tracking

Club Med tracks unique visitors to each post via Google analytics. In the end, we will look at the number of votes cast for each child, but also look at the number that were unique visitors to that child's post in order to determine the top three.

I vote for Molly! Bob Sylvester

Thanks for the clarification. As one who voted, and had each of our children vote as well, would they all still count because they did so from the same computer (which I assume would come up as only on unique visit)?

A great contest. It's fun to watch all the votes going up!

I am Molly's Mom and just for the record, seven of Molly's votes came from MY computer. The directions said, "one vote per individual" so everyone in my family voted and Molly had some friends over after school and they all voted too. I apologize for the mistake and I understand if you have to disqualify all seven votes. I just want it to go on record that we never meant to cheat! Thanks, Bonnie

Yes thanks for the clarification. Thats a great way to check using Google. I think they will understand that more then one person lives in a household, otherwise probably everyone would be disqualified.

Bonnie,

I am Ruth's dad, and I don't think that's what they are saying. I think all those votes of yours would count, at least they should. If someone was cheating, then there would be lots of votes, but very few "unique visits", meaning a very large, suspicious number of votes came from only one source/computer, which would raise red flags. I honestly don't think anyone is doing this, but if they are it would show up.

I wouldn't worry about your votes, I would hope they're OK.

Pierre,
Thanks for your kind and encouraging words - I hope you are right about the votes. I agree that it's very exciting to watch the numbers climb.
I just wish that every kid could win!

I am so glad you addressed the voting system! All the kids worked hard. Perhaps choosing randomly would avoid a lot of confusion and make it very fair for EVERYONE. I think that is what the contest rules stated. Like Bonnie, we have all family and friends who are over watch and then vote from our household computer.

Good luck to everyone!

The clarification does help, thanks. I also agree that they should choose a winner based on what the marketing department was looking for. That was the original idea in the rules I believe. I just hate to see this turning into a popularity contest, not a contest about their dance.

yes, agreed with everyone. the official rules said nothing about a public voting,it said random drawing.

I also thought that this was a random drawing, you can have so many votes from one computer and just change the names. Unfortunatly no matter what you do folks will not be happy, and feel that the contest was not fair.
Here in Florida we are still counting votes from last months election. Maybe Club Med could do recounts.

I think the best videos have the least votes. I thought the ORIGINAL idea, as stated in the contest rules, was about putting together a dance that went along with the music that kids could do in mini club med? Now it has come down to who is the best at stuffing a ballot box. The votes choosing a winner or even finalists is only showing kids that cheating to win is OK. It's really obvious which people are willing to do that. I think the voting is unfair to who really matters here, the kids.

I agree that votes is not a fair way to win a dance contest, however I don't agree that people are cheating. I have not cheated, I just have friends who have friends who are willing to vote and a big youtube community that is willing to help. Its not about the best video its about who you know (although I do think our dance moves are pretty good and are worthy of the votes we have received)

It really should not be about "who you know." How many parents are taking over this otherwise simply presented contest? It is clear that the kids all worked hard and deserve an equal shot at winning... not based on how many people they can rally to vote. And how many of those voting actually watched ALL the videos and vote based on the best one?!!! This has become pretty unfair....

I believe that all the young ladies, had fun creating, thier own interpetation of what should be "Club Med Crazy Signs"

Everything, we do in life, is a learning lesson.( whether its an individual or a business)

By keeping things Positive, then hopefully Club Med, will continue this promotion as a yearly promo, and more individuals can look forward to competing in it yearly.

Remember to Hug your kids today!

remember to set dates when you check unique visitors because some videos were added a week before other videos

It's disappointing that Club Med changed the contest rules after the fact. Online voting is totally different from a random drawing, and makes it no longer about which dance was the most creative - instead, it's now about how many people (be they family, friends, business associates or total strangers) you can get to log in and vote. In short, a popularity contest - the relative merits of the dances aren't even applicable anymore.

The only thing that seems fair at this point is for Club Med to award a trip to every one of the finalists - which they all deserve based on the ORIGINAL rules that called for a creative and fun dance. Instead, it has turned into a test to see how many people each kid (or the parents) can coerce into logging in and voting.

All the kids were great, and I hope that Club Med does the right thing after this fiasco by giving all of them a trip!

Is the winner going to be announced today or just chosen?

Anonymous said...

Hopefully they will post the winner here although it says in the rules to send them a self addressed stamped envelope to hear winners. LOL. I guess we will know we didn't win if we didn't get an email.
